Message From Your Chapter President

Hello Freeport ABATE

This weather still sucks as I write this. Hope it's better by the time you read this.

I want to congratulate Peggy Schier on being Freeport's 2017 Member of The Year. Peggy did outstanding work supporting our chapter and continues to do so. Thank you Peggy.

Upcoming events include Run To The Capital on May 5th, out annual Memorial Run to honor all of our lost chapter members on May 12, and the State Party in June. Fliers and information are available throughout this newsletter. Hope to see you all there.

As we have just completed our primary elections, it is now important to help those that help us to get elected in the general election in November. I had a chance to meet Governor Rauner again on April 8. The Governor is a huge supporter of ABATE and is a member. We also have Andrew Chesney running for State Rep., also a Freeport member. And Mike Koester on the City Council and also a Freeport member. While meeting with the Governor, one of his campaign aides asked if I would be the Stephenson Count contact for the Campaign. Of course I accepted.

Remember that the chapter meetings will be outside at the Pecatonica Wetlands starting in June and continue there through September. Hope to see you at one of the upcoming meetings. We could really use your input as we discuss and vote on many issues that affect our whole chapter and state organization.

A finer bunch of supportive ABATE members you could not meet (Springfield, IL).

Be safe everyone!

Our monthly meetings are the 3rd Sunday of every month with the exception of July. During the fall through spring months, we meet at Logan's Bar & Grill in Freeport Illinois. June through September we meet at the Pecatonica Wetlands about a mile north and west of Pecatonica Illinois. Meetings start at 12:30 sharp and we try to not let them go longer than two hours. We cover a lot of information at our meetings and encourage you to join us. Families are welcome and encouraged to attend our August family picnic meeting. Children are most welcome and we have special activities to keep them occupied during the meeting. Safety, Education and Legislation are all key initiatives of ABATE. We encourage all members and non-members alike to ride safely. Please read our mission statement.
