Message From Your Chapter President
Hello Freeport ABATE
If you think your vote doesn't count, think again. This is a mid-term election and voter turnout is usually lower. Thus, making your vote count even more. Many local races and referendums may be lost by a vote or two. It seems to happen a lot in county board races, townships, school boards, city aldermen, and even the last few races for President of the United States have been pretty close. No race is guaranteed, making your vote more valuable than ever.
Hope to see you at the Chapter Christmas party on December 15 at the Freeport Moose Lodge (see flyer). Cost will be $5 and a dish to pass. There will be 50/50 drawing, silent auction, bake sale, some music and a white elephant gift exchange. The white elephant exchange seems to be a big hit and is a lot of fun. Please attend and support your chapter.
We just had first round of officer nominations at our October meeting. The second round of nominations will be at our November meeting and elections will be at our December meeting. Please consider stepping up. For a list of officer positions, look to our newsletter. There are many ways to help...and any help is appreciated. You will not be going into an office blind as many of us will be there to help you in your new position. As I always say, I think all officer positions should be contested. I hope to see a lot of names on our ballet.
As we wind down the riding season, an excellent way to get together and stay in touch is by attending a burger run. We do them once a month and are listed with the rest of our activities.
Kerri and I wish you the best for the upcoming holiday season. Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas.
Our monthly meetings are the 3rd Sunday of every month with the exception of July. During the fall through spring months, we meet at Logan's Bar & Grill in Freeport Illinois. June through September we meet at the Pecatonica Wetlands about a mile north and west of Pecatonica Illinois. Meetings start at 12:30 sharp and we try to not let them go longer than two hours. We cover a lot of information at our meetings and encourage you to join us. Families are welcome and encouraged to attend our August family picnic meeting. Children are most welcome and we have special activities to keep them occupied during the meeting. Safety, Education and Legislation are all key initiatives of ABATE. We encourage all members and non-members alike to ride safely. Please read our mission statement.
