Message From Your Chapter President
Hello ABATE of Freeport!
I hope you're all having a great riding season and all are safe and doing well. It was a very late spring this year, so I know everyone spent some extra time looking over their rides. It never hurts to look it over again. We usually don't get much warning when we'er out on the road and it's really hard to carry a spare tire. And please ride sober and ride home.
Our membership is holding steady, but we go down and up. If we can just retain the members we have, there would only be one way to go...up. If you know any past members, please ask them to re-join. Retention has always been our biggest challenge. Of course, we LOVE new members too.
Remember our bike game in McConnell on July 15. This is in place of our usual July meeting. The Bark at The Moon Run on July 21 needs at least 47 bikes (will be explained at the run). Also the Boy Scout run in Pearl City on July 28. We will also be working the gate at the Jo Davies County Fair on August 2-5 as we have for about 32 years now. And Cruise Night is on August 11th. We can always use a little help and we always have a good time. There are flyers in this newsletter with details about most events. Always keep your SoftTail handy and check out what's going on as well as all of our proud sponsors.
The Freeport Chapters family picnic is August 19th with the August meeting being held just before the picnic. Bring a dish to pass and the chapter will fill you with some meat and refreshments.
Hope to see you at a meeting or event soon. I plan on being at all of them, so I can't wait to see you.
Be safe everyone!
Our monthly meetings are the 3rd Sunday of every month with the exception of July. During the fall through spring months, we meet at Logan's Bar & Grill in Freeport Illinois. June through September we meet at the Pecatonica Wetlands about a mile north and west of Pecatonica Illinois. Meetings start at 12:30 sharp and we try to not let them go longer than two hours. We cover a lot of information at our meetings and encourage you to join us. Families are welcome and encouraged to attend our August family picnic meeting. Children are most welcome and we have special activities to keep them occupied during the meeting. Safety, Education and Legislation are all key initiatives of ABATE. We encourage all members and non-members alike to ride safely. Please read our mission statement.
