STARVED ROCK, of A.B.A.T.E. of ILLINOIS, Inc.
The Starved Rock Chapter of ABATE of Illinois, Inc. (A Brotherhood Aimed Toward Education) would like to announce that we are an organization founded on a mission to preserve a safe, unrestricted motorcycling environment. ABATE endorses and promotes motorcycle safety programs, motorcycle awareness programs and political awareness that affect motorcyclists. ABATE’s safety and awareness programs as well as public awareness programs are designed to prevent injury or fatal accidents to motorcyclists. In conjunction with ABATE’s mission, May has been proclaimed as Motorcycle Safety and Awareness month by community leaders throughout the great State of Illinois.
The Chapter would like to thank the LaSalle, Bureau and Putnam County Boards for signing the proclamation declaring May as "Motorcycle Awareness Month." Also thanks go to the following cities and villages: Troy Grove, Mendota, LaSalle, Peru, Oglesby, Utica, Ottawa, Naplate, Marseilles, Seneca, Streator, Grand Ridge, Ransom, Leonore, Lostant, Tonica, McNabb, Cedar Point, Granville, Earlville, LeLand, Spring Valley, Depue, Ladd, Cherry and Princeton.
In an effort to promote sharing the roadways safely, ABATE of Illinois, Inc. has developed an awareness program designed to instruct new and inexperienced drivers how to look for and interact with motorcycles on the roadways. Volunteer members of ABATE present the safety and awareness class to high school driver’s education students free of charge. The key to safety is education and awareness; not only for motorists but motorcyclists as well.
On behalf of 558,000 registered motorcyclists statewide, ABATE of Illinois, Inc. will continue to strive in making Illinois a leader of motorcycle safety, education and awareness. Education plus awareness equals knowledge. Knowledge results in safer sharing of the roadways. When driving next time, please take a moment to look twice and be aware of other vehicles sharing the roadways. The life saved may be your own. Remember, look twice-save a life.
The August meeting will be at Kangley Inn, 2509 Section St. Kangley, IL. It will be Sunday, August 1st, 1:00pm. Food will be available too!
