Our Mission

The mission of the members of Black Diamond and A.B.A.T.E. of Illinois is to preserve the universal right to a safe, unrestricted motorcycling environment, and to propose and advocate actions that can be taken by elected and appointed officials to protect and conserve the natural resources of the State of Illinois, and ensure through professional management that sustainable use, recreational opportunities and enjoyment of these new resources is available for this and future generations.

Chapter Profile

A.B.A.T.E. of Illinois is a not for profit, educational organization consisting of 59 chapters.  Black Diamond Chapter services the Macoupin County area ; however, membership is not restricted to Macoupin County residents.

The Chapter has two primary purposes:

To support the purpose and goals of A.B.A.T.E. of Illinois.
To educate its members and the public about motorcycle safety.

The Chapter supports motorcyclists rights through:

State Political Action Committee
Federal Political Action Committees

The most important way the members of each chapter support A.B.A.T.E. is by becoming educated about motorcycling issues and casting their vote in every election for  legislators who support our mission.

The Chapter educates in two ways:

Legislation and issues affecting the rights of motorcyclists and off-road riders are monitored by the Legislative and the Off-Road Coordinator.
The Chapter’s Safety & Education Coordinator visits Driver’s Education classes  to teach  young drivers motorcycle awareness, and to share the road with motorcycles.

The Chapter  supports local communities:

Donations to local food pantries.
Help the Elf.
Food and toy drives.
The Chapter also participates in such local events as Gillespie’s Black Diamond Days and the Macoupin County Fair.

We publish a monthly newsletter which is sent to all members of the Chapter that provides information regarding motorcycle rights issues and events.
