Message From Your Chapter President
Hello Freeprt ABATE!
If you’re not already out riding, hopefully you will be soon. Make sure the bikes are roadworthy and ready to go. It’s no fun breaking down on two wheels and there is not much room to carry a spare tire. However, if you do breakdown, remember to carry your down rider’s card with you. Someone will be able to help.
I hope everyone will join us for Freeport ABATE’s 31st Anniversary Party on March 18. It will be at the Freeport Moose Lodge. Please bring a dish to pass. We will also be doing a silent auction and bake sale. It’s always a great time. We will also have a DJ. Freeport is the 3rd oldest chapter in the state and one of the most recognizable. We have reason to celebrate!
Our first BIG ride this year will be to the State Capitol for the Safety and Awareness Rally the first weekend in May. We will leave on Saturday May 6. The Rally is Sunday May 7 and we will ride home that afternoon. This is your chance to ride with members from all over the state.
I must thank the Freeport membership, as well as members from the entire state, for the Rich Neb Award I received at the State Seminar this year. It is truly an honor to be recognized for something I love to do. If you have never seen me speechless, you should have been there. It was an amazing and very humbling moment. Thank you all!
Ride safe! Ride free! JUST RIDE!!
Please Note: The April Chapter meeting has been moved from the 3rd Sunday to the 4th Sunday (April 23) due to Easter holiday.
Our monthly meetings are the 3rd Sunday of every month with the exception of July. During the fall through spring months, we meet at Logan's Bar & Grill in Freeport Illinois. June through September we meet at the Pecatonica Wetlands about a mile north and west of Pecatonica Illinois. Meetings start at 12:30 sharp and we try to not let them go longer than two hours. We cover a lot of information at our meetings and encourage you to join us. Families are welcome and encouraged to attend our August family picnic meeting. Children are most welcome and we have special activities to keep them occupied during the meeting. Safety, Education and Legislation are all key initiatives of ABATE. We encourage all members and non-members alike to ride safely. Please read our mission statement.
