Subject: legislative update Chicago

On Wednesday July 26 the Chicago City Council passed a sound and

vibration ordinance. ABATE of Illinois has been monitoring this from

committee to the full council.

This was a comprehensive ordinance, The only mention of motorcycles

was regarding exhaust tampering. Under section 625 of the Illinois

motor vehicle code it is illegal to tamper with an exhaust system.

ABATE of Illinois does not condone Illegal behavior.

In the city of Chicago it is now illegal to sell or install an

Illegal exhaust system.
