Subject: Legislative Update

Let’s Make Phone Calls!!

Phone Calls to Legislators:

-          Follow-up phone calls before a hearing or a floor vote are always necessary (even if you’ve already talked to them)

-          Secretary’s count and tally calls and give the information to the legislator (so leave a message)

-          It is also ok to call when it is convenient for you, they will answer voice mail (nights & weekends)

-          Be specific – name bill numbers, committee’s, and floor votes & ask them to vote ‘yes’ or ‘no’

-          You may contact your Legislators either at their district office or at their Springfield office

-          All phone numbers are available on the Illinois General Assembly Web Site under “members” at: http://www.ilga.gov

-          Committee members are also listed on the web site, just click on “committees”

Legislation:

VOTE NO:

HB1148 – 16 & under Snowmobile helmet law has passed the house on a vote of 62-49-2.  It only lost by three votes, this means that we will have to make sure everyone gets a phone call in the Senate.  Please begin calling your Senators on Monday Morning.
